| Alongside
our production of Shimadai – when orchids fly, we are running
a series of intensive residencies in schools, theatres and community
and outreach centres which will explore family relationships.
The timescale and exact content of the workshops can be developed
according to individual outcomes and requirements of the participants.
The benefits to the participants will include:
- Relationship development and understanding:
We
hope to work with groups of both parents or carers
and children from different backgrounds, creating
bonds between each of them by encouraging the participants
to discuss key issues in a supportive environment.
- Language
development:
using the body and movement as forms
of expression
- Self-assertion: participants will
all be encouraged to let their own voices and opinions
be heard.
- Participation and achievement:
by creating
an environment
in which everyone achieves something new there will
be no pressure on the participants to progress at
the same rate as each other. We hope all the workshop participants
will leave with a positive experience. Interpersonal
skills will be improved considerably, as will spatial
and bodily-kinaesthetic intelligence.
- Creative thinking
skills:
to develop ideas of family relationships
using the garden as a starting point
plus.
- The opportunity to develop skills in a creative
and, above all, fun environment.
