The Seagull & the Cat who taught her to fly
A Site-specific performance based on the novel by acclaimed Chilean writer Luis Sepulveda that tackles issues of differences and achieving goals that at first seem impossible through team work.
Involving Year 5 students we create an original promenade performance using theatre, movement and aerial work.
Working closely with the school we link the performances to the National Curriculum through Literacy, Science, PSHE and Geography.
This has been the most successful Literacy Unit I have ever done: the children loved linking work in the classroom to the theatre/flying project and the literacy work of the class has improved greatly - reading results have rocketed
Working with Scarabeus was a very positive experience that had a huge impact.
It has been great for putting us on the map locally and raising the profile of the creative arts in the school
Scarabeus promoted the importance of risk-taking for participants – believing that having the courage to try something scary and new is a skill for life…
the outcomes of the projects were outstanding.
